Expertise: Power user
Strengths: Looooots (well, for a laptop anyway) of space
Weaknesses: Thick (not quite as a brick, but still) - might be not suitable for your setup
Best uses: MacBook Pro - lot's of space, and a huge saving in comparison to 'official' Apple route. The change takes less than 10 minutes, if to take into account the time it takes to get the screwdrivers from the draw.
Similar products used: Seagate 750GB 7200 rpm
I recommend also: Seagate, Hitachi - all good drives
If it fits - it is really worth it!
I was very wary about this drive due to various reviews giving it low ratings. My main requirement was (besides the capacity) for it to be quiet and also not to vibrate. Before it I installed a Seagate 750GB, and took it out immediately - the vibration was so high, that it was annoying, and you could actually hear the whole laptop producing noise due to it. Yes, it was a 7200 rpm one, but still. The laptop I installed it in is a MacBook Pro 13" mid 2010 model.

So after the preamble my summary:
1. Quiet, practically as quiet as the original Hitachi 320 GB 5400 rpm that I took out.
2. No vibration that I can feel, the same as the Hitachi that I took out
3. Speed - no perceived difference. I didn't benchmark it in any way, i.e. any specific software or testing how quickly a file would be copied, or anything like this. So the perception is based on how quickly applications open, and how quickly I can find files, etc. By the way, while I had the 7200 rpm Seagate in, I didn't notice any significant difference either. What I mean that for my use there is no real benefit of going for a faster (supposedly) drive.

These are my first impressions, let's see how it performs long term.

IMPORTANT!!!!!! READ CAREFULLY!!!
Please note that this drive is 12mm thick, so you need to check whether it will fit into your system. As mentioned above, I installed it into a MacBook Pro 13" - it looks more at home there than a 9.5 mm drive, but a lot of systems wouldn't have space for it. So search for your system first to make sure if it will fit.
