Expertise: gamer/expert.
Strengths: low cost, supposed high USB3 speeds (instead of 30MB/sec USB2 you get up to 75-90MB/sec USB3)
Weaknesses: no eSata, not as much hot-plugability as expected, no cooling fan, usb3 speeds are not 10x usb2 speeds - more like double or tripple if you're lucky (might vary with drivers/hardware).
Best uses: infrequent and ad-hoc home use - not for permanently slotted HDD use (heat could become an issue)
great product
this docking station is fit for purpose - lacks some features though.

it does not have an eSata port and I cannot currently figure out if the dockingstation or my drivers or my HDD are responsible for lower than expected speeds.
the dockinstation does not seem to support hot-plugging as well as it should - might also be a driver issue - update; seems updated USB3 drivers for win7 fixed this issue mostly.
it looks good and it's easy to eject the HDD via the eject button that pops up once a HDD is placed in the dock.
for those looking for a cheap way to access multiple HDD's this is great; instead of cluttering the pc (which only has so many SATA slots) full of drives keep a drive per task e.g. music/movies/data and access it at high speeds via this dock.
