Sony CyberShot DSC-HX5 Digital Camera

  • Capture stunning low-light images and sweeping panoramic views with the DSC-HX5V featuring an "Exmor R" CMOS Sensor. Plus, catch fast action shots with up to 10 frames per seconds shooting. AVCHD Movie Mode records amazingly detailed video and a 25mm equivalent wide angle 10x high-zoom G Lens offers stellar image quality.

Features

Great Low-light Shots Without a Flash Sometimes a flash can wash out the scene, making it hard to capture the mood of the moment. For low-light environments, the back-illuminated "Exmor R" CMOS sensor delivers stunning performance and increases sensitivity by 2x to reduce noise. Shots around the campfire never looked better. Panoramic Shots Made Easy
  • Sweep Panorama Mode goes far beyond traditional wide angle lenses to let you capture expansive, breathtaking shots of landscapes or skyscrapers. Just press the shutter and shoot the scene with a sweeping motion and the camera does the rest. It even detects faces and moving subjects to avoid distortion.
Shoot Your Movies in HD
  • Capture your memories in brilliant AVCHD video with amazing clarity and enhanced detail. The AVCHD (Audio Video Compression for HD) codec is ideal for recording on a variety of media including high-definition Blu-ray Disc™.
Top-of-the-line Lens
  • It all starts with the lens. Designed and manufactured to the highest standards of optical performance, the Sony G-Lens is optimized to perfectly complement the advanced image sensors and image processing technology in Sony's cameras. G lenses are also used in high-end digital single lens reflex (DSLR) cameras and advanced pro-sumer HD camcorders.
Takes 10 Photos in 1 Second
  • Capture decisive moments—like the ball hitting the bat—with the ability to shoot 10 images in one second at full 10.2 megapixel resolution. And by employing a mechanical shutter, distortion is reduced when continuously shooting moving subjects. This feature is ideal for capturing a unique sequence of images.
Map Your Memories
  • Introducing a fun new way to look at vacation photos. An integrated GPS receiver and compass record the location and direction of every shot you take. So now you can enjoy a map view of your shots on a compatible PC with an internet connection. The HX5V also features TransferJet? technology, which lets you transfer photos to your compatible laptop by simply placing the camera on the laptop's palm rest.

Fun and so usable, can cause tears for pixel-peepers or lovers of A4+ enlargements
PICTURE QUALITY: Really 'true' exposure and colour rendition in day and low-light (however due to typical Sony trait of a love of yellow tinting, in lit interiors I recommend adjusting white balance). Daylight pictures taken in a big range of conditions come out quite sharp. Read more ...

Amazing
Is not great. Nothing having a dedicated sound recorder could not fix though because the video it's self is awesome. Read more ...
PROSPicture quality is superb. You see on a lot of the review sites really washed out photos and poor quality. That is not the case.
CONSOnly a few things bug me and only do so a little bit but some people it seems to bug a lot. First it is a point and shoot!
