With Sony’s exclusive X-Reality Engine, everything you watch – from HD movies to web videos – is analysed and selectively processed to give clean, clear, and lifelike pictures. While 3 unique noise reduction features work their magic prior to upscaling, Sony’s Intelligent Image Enhancer divides the signal into four characteristics – texture, outline, contrast, and colour – and optimises each one individually for more vivid and distinct pictures.

Edge LED

Using Edge LED backlight technology results in a much thinner and lighter BRAVIA when compared to conventional direct-type backlight system televisions. Typically used for small to mid-sized computer monitors, Sony has adapted this new type of backlighting for LCD TVs. The result is a more efficient light transmission process and lower power consumption without any compromise to picture quality.

3D Integrated

By using high frame rate LCDs with a “frame sequential display”, Sony makes it possible to watch Full HD 3D quality video on 3D compatible BRAVIA LCD TVs. This technology involves alternately transmitting images for the left eye and right eye to the screen.

When viewed through the “active shutter glasses”, the two separate images on the shutter glasses are synchronized with the onscreen image with their Full HD quality intact, and precisely transmitted to the viewer’s eyes. The high-quality super-fine Full HD 3D images deliver unprecedented reality and presence.

Picture-In-Picture

Watch two separate pictures from different sources on the screen at the same time! PIP allows you to view a main programme as a full-screen image, while a sub-screen displays images from another channel, video source or teletext page. When watching with PC input, the TV channel is viewed as a small window.

24P True Cinema™

While conventional televisions (and most DVDs) operate at 50Hz, modern film-makers record their films onto Blu-Ray Disc™ using 24 frames per second (24Hz, or 24P). With 24P True Cinema™, your BRAVIA will automatically recognise these films and select the correct format for playback so you see and hear the film just as in the theatre.
