  • Supplied with a gelatin filter holder at the rear for easy addition of color correction filters
  • A front cap adapter, front/rear lens cap and carrying case are included with the lens.
Sigma’s 8mm F3.5 EX DG Circular Fisheye are a unique approach to creative photography. Images created by fisheyes are a circular, curved distorted view of reality. It allows photographers to shoot creative images by taking advantage of the acute perspectives that are invisible to the human eye. This Sigma fisheye produces a circular image with a 180º angle of view within a black surrounding frame. A minimum focusing distance of 5.3 inches and a magnification ratio of 1to 4.6 allows the photographer to have fun with placement of subjects extremely near to the camera with distorted backgrounds. For photographers looking for a creative venue this Sigma fisheye is a good choice.

Features

The world's only 8mm lens equipped with auto-focus

This fisheye lens incorporates an auto focus system to achieve accurate focusing that might be difficult through the camera's viewfinder due to the extremely large depth of field.

F3.5 maximum aperture

This lens is perfectly suited for low light conditions, indoors or at dusk.

Close-up Photography

This circular fisheye lens has a minimum focusing distance of 13.5cm and a maximum magnification of 1:4.6 making it particularly useful for close-up photography.

Excellent optical performance

Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass offer effective compensation of colour aberration.

Reduction of flare and ghosting

Sigma’s super multi-layer lens coating reduces flare and ghosting, a common problem with digital cameras and also creates an optimum colour balance.

Ideal for panoramic and scientific applications

This lens is ideal for photographers using computer stitching software which requires circular fisheye images to be input, resulting in stitched panoramas. Due to the quantifiable angle/area relationship it produces, this lens can be used for scientific applications such as solid angle measurements of cloud distribution over the sky, or vegetation distribution of the rain forest canopy.

Gelatin Filter Holder

A holder at the rear of the lens accepts gelatin filters.

Lens Test: Sigma 8mm f/3.5 EX DG AF
An updated version of Sigma's 8mm f/4 spherical fisheye, this is the field's widest circular fisheye with autofocus. It's also among the last Sigma film-era lenses to be upgraded with coatings that suppress reflections from digital sensors ("DG"). Read more ...

A New view on the World
For my Nikon full-frame D700 and with Nikon no longer offering their own equivalent, this brilliant little Sigma remained the only choice for me. Being semi-pro, I didn't want to resort to using an attachment on the front of another lens. Read more ...

Fun lens
Circular fisheye lenses open up creative options unavailable with other lenses. This requires creativeness and some care during composition, but is worth the effort. Expect some chromatic aberation with this lens, esp a blue-purple ring at the edge of the image circle. Read more ...
