Sigma’s New 85mm F1.4 EX DG HSM lens is a large aperture medium telephoto lens optimized for use with digital SLR cameras and is especially ideal for portrait and low light photography. Designed with SLD glass and a glass mold element excellent color correction is achieved for all types of aberrations and superior optical performance is ensured. It is equipped with a rear focus system that minimized fluctuation of aberration caused by focusing and the Super Multi Layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting even in backlight photography. HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) ensures quiet and high speed autofocus capability and the round 9 blade diaphragm creates pleasant out-of-focus highlights. It comes with a Petal-type hood to block out extraneous light. For digital cameras with an APS-C size image sensor, a dedicated hood adapter, which expands the length of the lens hood is supplied and enables the hood to block out extraneous light more effectively.

This large aperture medium telephoto lens ensures a natural perspective. The attractive blur at F1.4 is ideal for portrait, landscape and low light photography. SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass and a molded glass aspherical lens element provide excellent correction of all types of aberrations. High image quality is assured throughout the entire focusing range and the Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting. This lens provides sharp and high contrast images even at the maximum aperture of F1.4. The incorporation of HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) provides fast and quiet autofocus and the rounded 9 blade diaphragm creates an attractive blur to the out of focus areas of the image.

Features

Medium telephoto lens ideal for portrait photography

This large aperture medium telephoto lens ensures a natural perspective and creates an attractive bokeh. The large maximum aperture of F1.4, narrow depth of field and attractive blur make this lens ideal for portrait and also low light photography. The lens effectively becomes a large aperture 127.5mm medium telephoto when used with APS-C size digital SLR cameras.
  • The angle of view varies depending on the camera the lens is mounted on.

Superior image quality

One SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass element is used for effective compensation of chromatic aberration. The molded glass aspherical lens element provides excellent correction of spherical aberration and sagittal coma flare. This minimises distortion and ensures high image quality.

Super Multi-Layer Coating

The Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting, even when taking pictures against the light, and ensures high contrast images throughout the focusing range.

Superior peripheral brightness

The design of the large aperture provides superior performance, increasing peripheral brightness and enabling a bright viewfinder image.

Rounded diaphragm

This lens has a rounded 9 blade diaphragm which creates an attractive blur to the out of focus area of the image.

High speed and quiet AF

The lens incorporates HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) ensures high speed and quiet AF as well as full time manual focus capability.

Dedicated Hood Adapter HA850-02 (Supplied)

A Petal-type-Hood which prevents extraneous light from degrading the image quality is supplied as standard. A Hood adapter extends the length of the lens hood and provides more effective shading when used with digital cameras with an APS-C size image sensor.

Notice: Not compatible with PENTAX SF Series!
