  • A lens hood, front & rear lens caps and carrying case are included with the lens.
Sigma’s Macro 70mm F2.8 EX DG is a large aperture medium macro lens suitable for shooting the smaller things in our world that exist virtually unseen. A macro lens is one which will focus on a subject close enough to render it “life-size” on the image plane in your camera. It also has a “flat” field” front lens element so that it can shoot images of flat objects such as artwork or postage stamps and be tack sharp all the way across the image. This Sigma Macro 70mm F2.8 is ideally suited for taking pictures of insects or other small creature where a closer approach to the subject would scare them away. This greater distance also allows the photographer more flexibility in lighting the subject with natural light reflectors. Three SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements provide optimum color correction and sharpness throughout the entire zoom range and Super Multi-layer coating reduces flare & ghosting. A floating internal focus system enables a minimum shooting distance of 7.4 inches enabling ability to shoot with critical sharpness regardless of distance. So don’t miss the tiny insects, flowers of the world or the details in a stamp or coin collection or a piece of embroidery all of which are seldom noticed but offer a fascinating world if you look closely enough. Capture them with the Sigma Macro 70mm F2.8 EX DG.

Features

An easy to use 70mm medium telephoto macro lens

This lens would have an equivalent field of view of a 105mm telephoto macro lens when used on digital SLR cameras with an APS-C size image sensor. The narrow angle of view is a great aid for simplifying backgrounds and shallow depth of field makes it easier to handle the composition.

Compensate for colour aberration

A Special Low Dispersion (SLD) lens and two high refractive index SLD lenses provide excellent correction for all types of aberrations and produce an exceptional level of optical performance.

Reduce Ghosting and Flare

Sigma’s super multi-layer lens coating reduces flare and ghosting, and helps create a natural color balance.

Floating Focus System

The floating focus system provides extremely high optical performance from infinity to 1:1 Macro.

Focus Limiter Switch

A ‘Focus Limiter Switch’ in incorporated on the lens, improving the speed and accuracy of autofocus by limiting the focus range from 25.7cm to 48cm and 55cm to infinity.

A screw-in lens hood

A screw-in lens hood is included for convenient use of circular polarizing filters. The included hood (LH620-01) is designed so a 77mm lens front cap can be attached whilst the hood is in place.

Magnification scale

A magnification scale is displayed on the lens barrel, ensuring ease of use.

Sigma 70mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro
Sigma have slotted this lens into the already crowded macro lens market, and with a focal length of 70mm, it sits comfortably between shorter 50mm or 60mm macro optics and the popular 90-105mm lenses where the slightly longer focal length will provides a more comfortable working distance. Extremely sharp for demanding imaging...
Surprised at the sheer detail captured by this relatively inexpensive lens. Bought to use on professional macro high detail product shots and filled the gap between 50mm and 85mm primes. Very useful focal length on APS-C sensors (105mm) for portraiture. Read more ...

Sigma 70mm F/2.8 EX DG Macro Lens: A sharp little macro
About the lens: This is one of Sigma's range of lenses - at 70mm it's one of the shorter macro lenses on the market, many coming in at around 105mm. It has sigma's EX technology, from Sigma's website this means "The exterior of this lens is EX-finished to denote the superior build and optical... Read more ...
