Performance is not so amazing, but capacity is good

I used this drive for a while in an enclosure as a backup/extension/portable drive. The only annoyance was the vibration - I always looked for something soft to put it on, otherwise it was making noise. Apparently it goes hand in hand with the 7200 rpm rotation speed. It supposed to make the drive "faster". Well, in the USB enclosure scenario it is a waste, as the USB interface is the bottleneck, and not the drive. But the real purpose for this purchase was to upgrade the notebook. And I did it - the upgrade. However I didn't take into account that the vibration will be even more annoying in the laptop (MacBook Pro 13"). It turned out that it was very annoying, and even loud - the whole desk was humming. I searched for this on the net, and found quite a few references to this phenomenon. Besides this, there is nothing bad to say about the drive.

The claim that the Mac would fly with it I cannot support - I didn't experience it (though I'd like to emphasise, that it is based on perception, i.e. I didn't benchmark it in anyway, just opened and closed the usual stuff, and it felt more or less the same). As a result of my experiment, I put it back into the enclosure, and now I continue using it as before (I am considering getting a cushion for it :) ). I bought a Western Digital 1 TB, and so far I am happy I did.

Amazing performance

I upgraded my MacBook Pro with one of these and its flying now. The 7200 RPM spindle speed does reduce the battery life and increase the heat slightly, but all in all it makes my machine fly. Worth every cent.
