The Pentax Optio P70 Digital Camera is an excellent compact digital camera for gadget-savvy shooters thanks to its economical price, simple controls and HD video capture. It saves images with a maximum resolution of 12.0 megapixels, providing plenty of resolution for enlargements.

The P70 features a 4x optical zoom lens with a 28-110mm equivalent angle of view, so it is great for taking group shots and landscapes as well as getting close to your subject for portraits or sports. The camera's fully automatic 'green' mode sets exposure, ISO sensitivity and other important parameters with a touch of a button making the P70's operation very easy.

4x Optical Zoom

The Optio P70 has a 3x optical zoom lens equivalent to a 28-112mm lens in the 35mm/full frame format. When the optical zoom is combined with the digital zoom function (up to 6.3x), the camera can attain up to a 25x effective zoom magnification. The camera also boasts superb macro capabilities with a minimum focusing distance of 4" in wide mode.

Pixel Track Shake Reduction

Using shake reduction reduces blurred subjects without requiring an ISO speed boost which results in noisy photos. Compensating for shake via physical methods is more effective than electronic anti-shake methods.

Auto Picture Mode

The Auto Picture mode on the Optio P70 automatically determines the shooting conditions for 8 different shooting modes and selects the optimum settings for each subject.

Fast Face Recognition AF & AE

The Optio P70 is equipped with Face Recognition AF & AE functionality that automatically detects and focuses upon a maximum of 32 faces ensuring proper exposure regardless of where faces appear in the photo's frame. The P70 can recognize faces in as little as 0.03 seconds. In addition, exposure settings are automatically adjusted to optimize for faces, even when backlit. The facial recognition is enhanced by Smile Capture and Blink Detection that alerts you to any less than perfect pictures.

Record HD Movies with Sound

The camera can record video with accompanying audio at a max resolution of 720p @ 15 fps. There is also a voice memo mode that allows users to attach a sound recording to an image.
