Have you ever wished that your lens could focus closer than it does? Imagine that you could put a magnifying glass in front of your camera's lens. Close-up lenses work in this fashion and are the simplest and least expensive method of close-up photography. They are available in different "powers" (diopters). A +1 close-up lens will allow you to focus your lens somewhat closer than it already does. A +2 close-up lens will allow you to focus closer than the +1. A +4 lens will allow you to focus even closer than a +2, and so on. These lenses can be used individually or in any combination to achieve ultra-close focus. The maximum magnification achieved with these attachments will depend on the focal length of your lens as well as the actual close focusing capability of that particular lens. Multicoated to minimize reflection at the filter surfaces which reduces flare and ghosting.
This kit consists of a +1, +2, and +4.
NOTE: A +1 combined with a +2 will equal a +3, while a +2 combined with a +4 will equal a +6, and so on.

Kenko close up kit
An excellent and more affordable alternative to an expensive macro lens.
True, it does not offer all the quality and features of a R5000 macro lens, however it works very well for close range shots with acceptable picture quality - certainly good enough for web publishing.
The fact that the lenses are stackable adds an extra dimension and can reveal startling detail.
I would recommend using with a tripod, and preferably a remote release, as depth of field is VERY shallow and focussing can be tricky, but the results are worth it.
STRENGTHS:
Affordability and convenience. Takes up very little room in your camera bag and the fact that you can stack these lenses is also a plus. 1/10th the price of a macro lens.
WEAKNESSES:
Some loss in picture sharpness and focussing is better done manually (On a Canon Eso 450D)
BEST USES:
Close up photography where the subject is not moving, as focussing becomes a challenge with the shallowdepth of field and the need to go manual for really sharp pictures.
