CFI 8 bay 3.5" SATA to eSATA Direct Attached Storage (DAS) (CFI-B8283ER)

This is 8 bay DAS (Direct Attached Storage) enclosure for high capacity storage needs. With build in ventilating protective screen front panel, the unit utilizes cable-less backplane design to support 8 hard drives. Hard drives are install an easy access tray for simply insertion and removal. Hard drive cooling fan located on the back of unit. It is a compact RAID tower use only one cable to access 8 SATA hard drives utilizing the SATA II port multiplier technology and also support RAID 0, 1, 5, 1+0.

Strengths: extremely easy to set up, didn't even need the driver cd that came with it! (Win7 64bit)
Weaknesses: None I can think of.
Best uses: Storage
Very nifty piece of hardware
What can I say, this unit is very nifty. It took me less time to set this thing up than it did for me to take my hard drives out of their housing! I would recommend this unit to anyone who asks me about this type of equipment! My OS picked up the raid controller fine and was up and running within approximately 10 minutes (if that).

Not working properly
I have got the CFI-B8283ER fully populated. I have got endless problems with the PC Link 1 light just flashing and not initializing the drives on PC Link 1. Support of this device on the web is very bad. Not something I would buy again.
