Why are 32-bit operating systems no longer supported?

Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 and Adobe After Effects® CS5 only support 64-bit operating systems. Developing professional tools that leverage up-to-date hardware and operating systems is the best way to deliver great performance. Performance is critical for Adobe customers, and from a technology perspective, 64-bit operating systems can help provide extra horsepower.

Can I buy Adobe Encore® CS5 or Adobe OnLocation™ CS5 separately?

No. Adobe Encore CS5 and Adobe OnLocation CS5 software are sold only with Adobe Premiere Pro CS5. However, customers who have earlier versions of Adobe Encore DVD (1.x or 2.0) can upgrade to Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 for the standard upgrade price. Adobe OnLocation CS5 software is part of the Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 installer. Does Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 natively support RED cameras?

Yes. Adobe Premiere Pro provides full native support for RED R3D files, allowing you to import them directly without transcoding, rewrapping, or installing additional software. Because the files you import contain raw sensor data, you edit footage that is as close to what the camera captured as possible—enabling you to work nondestructively on the color and look of your projects. You can work with content in all common RED R3D file permutations, including 2K, 3K, 4K, 4K HD, 16x9, and 2x1, using a number of different frame rates. Best of all, the Mercury Playback Engine enables real-time scrubbing and playback of RED R3D 4K and higher resolution files.
